In the memorable year of 2005, WebsiteMagazine.com and Website Magazine reached Web professionals for the first time.
In that same year, MySpace caught the attention of big business, Apple forged the iTunes/iPod nexus, and designer dogs were all the rage. Scientists discovered a new planet, and everybody started using the term Web 2.0 -- differently. Comedy Central launched The Colbert Report, Google launched Google Earth, and three friends launched YouTube.
Starting as Website Services Magazine, quickly shortened to Website Magazine, our mission has always been to provide practical solutions for businesses in running their websites.
Penned by founding editor Pete Prestipino, the first editorial promised, “By providing a broad scope of informative articles about sound, proven Internet business practices and emerging trends, Website Services Magazine will help website owners develop, design, maintain and promote their online endeavor more efficiently and effectively.”
The first cover story pitted Yahoo against Google search results in a tug-of-war, highlighting in practical terms how to compare advertising on the two Internet giants. Also in that first issue, the popular department debuted with 50 Top Resources for Website Development.
Reaching out to more and more subscribers, within five years Website Magazine had traveled to scores of trade shows across the nation, and qualified circulation topped 142,000. Now with two levels of subscriptions and a series of books on Internet success, Website Magazine still has the largest qualified audience of any industry publication.
From the first and still today, it’s a magazine all about your success on the Internet, both presented on the Web and multiple formats, printed for delivery to your postal mailbox and your favorite browser, more recently via apps for your smartphone or iPad.
