If you’ve struggled to monetize a forum as a publisher in the past, or currently have difficulty generating exposure within these often vibrant online communities (and getting their passionate participants to pay attention to your messaging as an advertiser), Crowdgather may have just found the answer.
The forum network has released Adisn.com, a self-service advertising platform designed to organize the inventory of thousands of online communities within its network into verticals (e.g. topical, geographical) that are searchable by advertisers. Publishers (the forum owners) who have relied on a variety of means to fill ad inventory and monetize their properties will likely be quite interested in the service as they will have “access to scale” through vertical aggregation that they would have difficulty achieving as a stand-alone site otherwise. In short, you won’t have to go to multiple ad networks, and won’t have to sell direct – you’ll implement the code, set up your forum segments, and watch as the ad dollars roll in.

Unlike social networks, those visiting forums typically have a defined interest in the topic of the forum they are visiting – making them a highly valuable target for advertisers. Not to mention lucrative for forum owners.
CrowdGather hit the digital scene back in 2008, but took off in 2010 with its acquisition of FreeForums.org. Back then CrowdGather was boasting 80 million monthly page views and 4.5 million unique visitors, but it’s since ballooned to 220 million pageviews and 16 million unique visitors.
