CENTR, the Council of European National Top Level Domain Registries (the not for profit agency dedicated to country code TLDs), released its quarterly publication featuring domain name statistics with a focus on European ccTLDs.
According to CENTR, as of May 2014, the total number of domains across all Top Level Domains (TLDs) stood at 278.8 million - 127.2 million ccTLD's and 148.3 million gTLDs (with a few others including the new gTLDs closing in on nearly 1 million total registered).
ccTLDs grew at their highest rate in terms of quarterly growth, gaining 2.2 percent. The global market share of ccTLDs (as a percentage of all registrations) has been increased the past few quarters and currently stands are 45.8%.
The top 20 largest ccTLDs account for approximately 82 percent of all ccTLD registrations globally and 37 percent of all domain names globally (gTLDs, ccTLDs, etc.)
