Arguably one of the most valuable of the new generic top-level domain extensions, .book, is now in the control of none other than Amazon.
Amazon was competing against 8 other applications for the domain name, but apparently has paid the most to operate the domain name. The winning bid ifor .book was private so the final price at auction won't be made public but many are speculating that it may be one of the highest of any extension that has gone to auction.
As you may recall, Amazon got its start in the books space and still controls a vast portion of that market thanks to the popularity of the Kindle.
