Many email service providers have made available ways to send emails with attachments but recently, there has been an increase in services which also notify the sender of the date and time the recipients access the files.

The latest example of this comes from mxHero, which develops email specific technologies. The company’s new plugin is called Attachment Track and could prove to be a powerful tool for email marketers. The plugin allows users (email senders) the ability to indicate before sending whether an attachment should be tracked. After sending, attachments are remoed and stored by mxHero, replaced with an HTML file attachment with links to original attachements. Recipients can then access the attachments and for each download the sender receives a notification of who accessed it.

“The ability to know when your attachments have been accessed can be an important bit of information in our time critical day,” said Alexis Panagides, CEO of mxHero. “You can imagine many usage cases ranging from sending an agenda before a meeting to time sensitive commercial proposals or even legal documents.”
