Yahoo today released usage data on RSS - and what they found may surprise you. Awareness of RSS is quite low among Internet users: 12% of users are aware of RSS, and only 4% have knowingly used RSS. 27% of Internet users consume RSS syndicated content on personalized start pages (e.g., My Yahoo!, My MSN) without knowing that RSS is the enabling technology.
So what does this mean for Website Owners?
It means that website owners must do a better job of making information available about how to utilize their RSS feeds if there is any hope of getting people to subscribe, much less profit from the burgeoning RSS advertising opportunities.
So Explain HOW TO USE RSS to Your Users!
