According to Verisign. At the end of the third quarter 2005, there were 85.6 million domain names reflecting a three percent growth over the second quarter of 2005 and a 28 percent increase year over year according to the Domain Industry Brief from Verisign. In terms of total registrations, .com remained the largest Top Level Domain Name (TLD). The next largest TLD was the German Country Code TLD (ccTLD), .de, followed by .net and the British ccTLD, .uk. This has remained unchanged since second quarter 2004.
