According to a recent report by In-Stat, the market for Flash-based and Hard Disk Drive (HDD)-based players could reach 286 million units by 2010. This is more than double the 140 million units in 2005. Falling price points, the availability of subscription and pay-per-download music sites, increasing memory capacities and higher functionality are all being attributed to the growth projection.
This is big news for marketers, and especially the growing trend of podcasting. These numbers follow recent, similar reports of the rapidly expanding market that Website Services has reported in the past. It's good news for advertisers and marketers that have started to invest this ever-increasing business sector, as they could soon see big spikes in their ROI.
