You really can't blog about Web success and not write about Google. WSM's Site of The Day today is Google's Adwords Traffic Estimator which was selected not because it's Google, but well, because it's really good; I mean really, really good.
The tool helps online advertisers get quick traffic estimates for new keywords without adding them to an account or using the AdWords sign-up wizard. When entering your keywords you can refine the query by broad match, exact match, phrase match and even negative match - which is helpful. It's important to set up your campaign seperately based on exact and broad match. More on that maybe in a later post.
Enter a specific maximum CPC or leave the field blank and Google will provide estimates based on its suggested Max CPC. Choose a daily budget (if you have one) to see estimates for the amount you want to spend each day, or leave field blank to see all available clicks. The tool also helps advertisers by providing important targeting information (language and location).
What you will see in the results are keywords/minimum bid, maximum CPC/predicted status, search volume, estimated average CPC, estimated ad positions, potential clicks per day and potential cost per day. The tool is helpful not just for PPC advertisers but also Google AdSense publishers as you can determine what keywords (and the cost per click) you should target on a webpage.
