Aaron Wall at SEObook has an interesting post this morning about affiliate conversion rate by the type of advertising format. Wall, who determined that "far and away the top converting affiliate format is text links" and that "Once you go below 100x100 the conversion rates drop off a bit, but anywhere from 100x100 to 350x250 does great," uses IdevAffiliate. Wall also indicated that large ads (such as the traditional 468x60 or possibly skyscraper ad size) do not convert as well in that those formats may trigger something in the brain of the user that something is trying to be sold. Very interesting thoughts.
