Ready, Set, Market With Media Players

Apple just announced that the 100 millionth iPod® has been sold, making it the fastest selling music player in history. But the Ipod is not just a music player, it's also a media player - which is why marketing your products and services through audio and video is about to play a much more significant role.
There are quite a few media players already here (Zune) with others on
the horizon but it's quickly shaping up to be an even more competitive market.
Yahoo just partnered with SanDisk to launch a new wifi enabled MP3
player according to StartupMeme, called the SanDisk Sansa Connect, that will allow users to listen to Yahoo Music and also syncs up with their Flickr account.
Now that the potential of a 100 million member prospective audience has easily been realized, the next step is in understanding what media people are actually consuming , why, and how people are doing it. Last week Mike cited an eMarketer report in his post "Podcasting News - Same Old Situation" in which Donovan Neale-May of the CMO Council said "Understanding online media content consumption preferences, patterns and interests is critical to determining where and how to allocate marketing dollars to improve awareness and consideration." This means that understanding how your audience uses your content will ensure long term success.
