Site of the Day: Bluepulse.com

The social networking phenomenon shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, it continues to expand and is now driving hard into the mobile space.

Bluepulse, a mobile social networking application just secured $6 million in funding from VantagePoint Venture Parnters. Founded in 2002, Bluepulse claims to be nearing 100 million page views per month. The network allows forming groups, chatting with friends, party invites and a variety of mobile widgets including Flickr, Blogger and local TV and movie guides.

The mobile Web has been slow to take off and meet expectations, but mobile social networking seems like a logical fit. Finding friends on the go, meeting up with friends or generally staying in touch while away from the desktop are all good reasons for users to adopt social networking for mobile. What remains to be seen are the business applications for mobile networking.
