Yahoo has launched a social-networking service for college students to "kickstart" their careers. The site allows people to create a professional profile, browse company profiles and network with peers, professors, alumni and potential employers. It's quite a departure from what is available at social networks such as anything goes Facebook and MySpace and will be more appealing than the cold, often unfriendly waters of Linkedin. With a massive user base and a relationship with Bebo already in the works, Yahoo's Kickstart may be the kick start Yahoo needs to secure a spot in the ultra-competitive social networking space.
