Eurekster Swicki - Out of Beta

It's been a long, long time since I last talked about Swicki, the solutions which lets anyone create a custom search portal around the topic of your choice. Eurekster Swiki is now out of beta and with a few new features for your community:

RSS: Swickis now prioritize the freshest content from your site and your favorites via their RSS feeds. These feeds can be manually managed within the control panel. On the swicki results page, these results include a timestamp when the post is less than a week old.

Autodetect: If your site has a Blogroll, those sites will automatically be favored in your results. Your swicki will also automatically find RSS feeds associated with your or your favorite sites and index them in.

Möbius: Automatically surfaces new and interesting content into the buzzcloud, keeping the swicki relevant and fresh. Swickis also prioritize the sites that your users find most relevant.

The first time I referenced Eurekster's Swicki was back in November 2005 in a post called "E-Community and Collaborative Search." I'm not sure if I'm feeling cynical or not this morning, but two years sounds like a very long time for beta-testing. Let's hope the product has made significant improvements and they've nailed down a legitimate way to generate revenue and share it with Swicki publishers.
