eBay Tries to Soften the Blow

Amid the changes in pricing structure eBay is putting into action came a slew of complaints for sellers. Most feel that the changes will affect them negatively, increasing payouts to eBay while lowering profit for the sellers. eBay has heard the complaints and decided to throw some sellers a bone. Although most sellers will still end up paying more to eBay than in the past, this will help a considerable portion of the seller population.

A new pricing schedule for media (books, music, movies and video games) will coincide with the other changes on Feb. 20. The schedule is as follows based on listing price:
  • $0.01 – 0.99 (auction-style only)
    Original Categories Insertion Fee: $ .20
    New Media fee: $ .10
  • $1.00 - 9.99 (auction-style and fixed price)
    Original Categories Insertion Fee: $ .40
    New Media fee: $ .25
  • $10.00 – 24.99 (auction-style and fixed price)
    Original Categories Insertion Fee: $ .60
    New Media fee: $ .35
