Microsoft enjoyed mild success last September when they released their hosted software program and now they look to build on that momentum, joining the revolution of Internet-based computing.
The focus will be on SharePoint, a hosted software aimed at providing easy collaboration and communication for businesses without the need to install their own programs on their hardware and servers. By paying Micorosoft to host the solutions, businesses can expect lower costs, faster software updates and lower maintenance costs.
Some of the services available will be Exchange Server 2007 (email), Office SharePoint Server 2007 (a content management and collaboration tool), and Office Live Meeting (video conferencing via the Web.) For those already paying Microsoft for their hosted software solutions, discounts will be available.
Limited beta trials begin today.
