Those interested in search engine optimization (SEO) or paid advertising (SEM)
should take a look at AttenAlert.com - a
simple keyword monitoring solution (akin to Andy Beal's
Trackur mentioned a few weeks ago) that allows users to find references to
specific words and phrases through various online sources.

Tools and solutions such as these are useful as they enable you to keep track
of online mentions of your company (or your competitors) and monitor how
keywords that define that brand are being used.
Attenalert has some interesting features including email alerts about new
discoveries, the ability to look up contact information for discovered sites,
trend plotting to compare against marketing campaign, subscribe to RSS feeds,
export results to CSV, exclude specific websites from the search results and Web
based billing with no minimum contract. The pricing is a little whacky however -
accounts are available for just under $10 but there is also a variable, per word
per month fee. This means that keeping tracking of a few hundred search terms
and keyword phrases could run into the hundreds of dollars - not necessarily in
the budget for many small and medium Web businesses.
