buySAFE has announced the release of its buySafe Shopping Advisor, a toolbar that addresses consumer concerns about the risky nature of online shopping and rates merchants on four key areas of online safety and security. The toolbar offers checks on:
- SSL Encryption: determining if web sites have a valid SSL connection
- Website Security: noting if a web is regularly checked for security vulnerabilities
- Privacy: letting shoppers know if and how their information is kept private and secure
- Bonded Shopping: ensuring that a merchant is bonded
While SSL Encryption, website security and privacy are obviously important factors in ensuring a premium shopping experience for consumers, that last one should raise a red flag with merchants. buySAFE actually provides a bonded shopping service and as I see it, this toolbar is little more than a way to drive more sales (and in turn more revenue) for both buySAFE and its clients. However, by providing its Safe Shopping Portal - consumers will be more inclined to purchase if they know for certain that merchants are being held responsible for the safe sale and delivery of goods.
“buySAFE’s mission it to make every internet shopping experience safe, reliable and trusted. Achieving this lofty goal requires arming internet shoppers with better information so they can make smart and safe buying decisions and eliminating major types of risk, like merchant non-performance through bonding,” said buySAFE CEO Jeff Grass.
