In a tough economy, finding new clients for your design, development or service business can be challenging. Fortunately, there are many online services which bring buyers and providers together - making your task of client acquisition as simple as remembering your username and password. For buyers of freelance services, the outlets can be a mixed bag - many of the Web workers that you will find are not quite up to snuff and others know full well the value they bring and charge accordingly. But for complex projects or even grunt work, it's a great way to find motivated individuals looking to help and enabling you to get things done.

Listed below are a few of the most noteworthy resources for finding freelance work and hiring freelancers. I have tried two of these personally in and with great success.

Peter, many thanks for this list.

Here are 2 more freelancing resources that are great for freelance writers--particularly those needing to build their portfolio while they increase their cash flow. (free and paid levels) (entirely free)

I encourage independent professionals to collect a downpayment before starting any project and to also use an agreement letter that clearly outlines the scope of the project, deliverables, timelines, and payment terms.

Thanks again. And all best!
