Ecommerce technology and service provider Chain Reaction Ecommerce announced a new version of its popular  shopping cart software, CRE Loaded.

"Version 6.3 is a milestone release for CRE," said Michael Valverde, CEO of Chain Reaction Ecommerce. "This release features the most significant round of updates and enhancements - driven by ongoing feedback from our large install base and open source community. We believe customers will be very excited about the new features and expanded capabilities found in CRE Loaded 6.3."

The most notable improvement is the "Abandoned Cart Recovery" feature. This module finds abandoned CRE Loaded shopping carts and creates a list of items and the customers who were shopping for them. Merchants can generate automatic emails to those that abandoned the site, asking them for feedback about why they didn't complete the process, or offering them an incentive to complete the purchase and reminding them of the item(s) they didn't purchase. Abandoned Cart Recovery includes a reporting feature to report on data, such as number of abandoned carts converted into sales.

Other features and enhancements in CRE Loaded 6.3 include:

  • Content Director: Adds a content management system to CRE Loaded 6.3, enabling store owners to add and manage content.
  • SEO URL 4.1: Optimizes URL names by including category and product keywords for improved indexing by all major search engines.
  • One-Page Checkout: Combines all checkout elements into a single-page to reduce shopping cart abandonment rates.

I hope they finally have globals=off as a compatible php setting...globals=on is a HUGE security risk with open source software.

I am all for the new features and with having rg off.. But I think the community has been really shaken up with its saas licensing policy..

and then you have the huge editing/deleting/banning in the public forums.. (ask about the forums most active member, greatpcs recent ban) its going to go the same path that osc did when chemo was forced to part ways

I wish them luck, but at the rate they are going, its going to be an uphill battle when you don't listen to your customer base/community

Two years of development, and the best they can come up to brag about is integrating a 5+ year old contribution to osCommerce?

Give me a break!

Given that the remainder of the features are systems they have been selling as add on systems for the past 2 years, they don't seem to have done much.  Add to that their practice of deleting posts which offer critique and you get one piece of software everyone should avoid like the plague.
