Lessons in Website Localization

Many North American businesses acknowledge the holiday spirit with various Website images and statements, in an attempt to warm the hearts of existing customers, and perhaps gain new ones worldwide. However, in today’s global marketplace, it’s vitally important to understand a target audience and culture lest you inadvertently alienate or even offend the very people you are trying to court. Hello,

That is very true. There are a couple of point regarding multilngual/international search.

First, particularly with the credit crisis, you don't want to rely heavily on one country only. Secondly, you want to increase your business across the 80% of people that are online and do NOT search in English!

What I found useful is a forum run by Andy Atkins-Krueger, www.multilingual-search.com. Very useful and helpful.

They even run their own summit in London, United Kingdom, on Multilingual Search, www.internationalsearchsummit.com.

I will be there, hope to meet you there too!

Best,

Volker

Read more, where? Where are the lessons in this article?

I have been managing Global design strategy for 15 years and Global Web design commercialization for the last 8 of those years. There are very serious cultural, brand and localization issues a business jumping into the Global arena need to consider. You owe the readers more than just this catch phrase with an empty tag line.
