share this has finally exited its private beta, and it's a pretty good service for the time you must spend to get a site up and running and the value it potentially can provide. is branding itself as a service for owning and managing your online identity., which stands for "Content Hub & Identity Management Platform," allows site owners to "bring the many facets of their digital lives together in one place that belongs to them." A pretty lofty goal but after testing it out, its ease of use might make the solution a feasible, genuine reality.

Web pros are going to jump at this: offers a free .mp domain name. After registering, owners get to access their website, which includes Open ID, profiles, an activity stream, a blog, photo albums and tools to import content and contacts from across the Web. also includes a contact management system they are dubbing the Ultimate Black Book, a tiered privacy tool called Personas and the ability to publish and push content to other services, like Twitter and Facebook. Most importantly, ownership of content and contacts is not in question. It all belongs to the site owner.

“Content and social graphs should belong to the people who created them,” said Gib Bintliff, founder and CEO of “ owners can import their stuff into one place, mix and mash it, control who sees what, publish it, push it, and they shouldn’t lose ownership or control of it. If they want to export it, why not? It’s theirs. This is a big part of’s core values and is reflected in’s Owners’ Bill of Rights.”

Signed up for this service on Tuesday, never got a confirmation email.

Sent 3 emails to Tech Support, still no confirmation email.

Waste of time

I find JaredW's comments highly useful - and it is a perfect demonstration of how a new service (or any service for that matter) can die an early death. The thing that amazes me is that Website Magazine has raved about this new service - perhaps without fully checking out their ability to deliver.

We actually did check it out William T and it worked perfectly well for us - here's the URL I created when launched on Wednesday:

I have been using Chimp for some time it. I did have issues with my original confirmation email. Love the service, after sign up issues.

I signed up today along with 3 other coworkers in my office. I didn't have time to fill in too much info as of now, but I had no problems receiving a confirmation email within minutes. Beta means just that.. give them a chance to get through the teething period every webmaster has come across with a new launch. ;)
