Editor's Letter from Website Magazine's May 2009 Edition:
Blogging has surpassed the status of phenomenon — it has been weaved into the fabric of how we publish and consume content and, for many online businesses, how they receive and sustain website traffic.
The world of blogging is clearly in hyper-drive. Over 133 million blog records have been indexed by Technorati since 2002, garnering 77.7 million unique visitors per year in the U.S. alone. A 2008 study from Universal McCann reveals that 77 percent of active Internet users read blogs. These and other related statistics are staggering. The impact blogs have made, and continue to make, is overwhelming.
In the world wide Web of marketing and media, there are arguably few things that changed the landscape more than weblogs. Blogs are the tools we use to stay connected with the buzz of our industry. They are the currency with which we leverage our popularity and product mindshare. They help us secure connections with consumers as well as network with our peers. Businesses are increasingly relying on these platforms, and the connections they support, to secure crucial organic rankings on popular search engines. Blogs are used to generate attention on social networks and to keep customers, clients and prospects in the know about products and services. That is a massive responsibility for Web-content creators and Internet marketers. Are you up for the challenge?
Before the trend slows (if it ever will), Website Magazine’s May 2009 feature article aims to share the techniques, tactics and technologies employed by bloggers of every size and niche so that individually we can shorten the road to Web success.
Website Magazine has once again developed an exciting and information-packed issue with helpful articles on choosing the best Web content management system, developing quality metadata for video, acquiring traffic without popular social networks, search analytics, and as always, a whole lot more that is increasingly considered required reading for Web professionals.
Thanks and Best Web Wishes,
Peter Prestipino, Editor in Chief
