Reliability The Name of the Game [Web Hosting]

We here at Website Magazine must get asked what the most reliable web host twenty times a week. My typical answer is "I don't know... I haven't tried them all." That's when you start looking for third party metrics to get an answer because in the end, reliability is the name of the game in Web hosting.

Chicago-based dedicated and managed web hosting provder Singlehop was named the most reliable hosting company for the month of October 2009 in NetCraft's monthly hosting rankings. Netcraft creates its rankings based on measurements of the response times of leading webhosts.

"From a customer's point of view, the percentage of failed requests is more pertinent than outages on hosting companies' own sites," Netcraft says of their ranking system. SingleHop achieved perfect results in Netcraft's October measurements, maintaining exceptional uptime with 0% failed requests. That's pretty impressive.

"Being named as the most reliable web hosting company by a trusted source like Netcraft confirms SingleHop's tireless commitment to providing our customers with the best service possible," says SingleHop VP of Sales and Marketing Dan Ushman. "We finished an extensive upgrade of our network earlier this year with all-new Cisco switches, routers, and systems. That consistent investment in our services, along with our exceptionally dedicated employees, is what enables us to achieve this kind of 100% uptime reliability."

Not enough said !

Reliable hosting is bar far the biggest hurdle any business will have to vault.

Having tried several hosting companies over the past few years, I have had my share of ups and downs, mostly downs. That is down time.

I don't know if there is a way to 100 percent guarantee that your sites will stay up and running trouble free, but, wisely choosing your hosting company will go along way to ensure optimal results.

Be sure to choose a company with live telephone support, 24/7/365.  Getting prompt, capable service and tech support is crucial, and will slow the stress factor 10 fold.

Go Daddy has always provided excellent service, and is worth a few dollars more to have that peace of mind.  Voda host is reliable, cost effective and comes with a great cpanel for content management, but, without any live support, or any real customer service, untimely outages can take days to rectify and you loose valuable organics.

Stay away from economy or budget type hosting unless you are  not serious about your online presence, reputation or responsibility to your traffic.
