Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of social powerhouse Facebook announced on the official Facebook blog that more than 350 million people around the world are now using Facebook. In five short years that's clearly a phenomenal rate of growth. It's now, some argue, the most trafficked site on the Web.

Some of this growth can be attributed to Facebook's use of individual "networks" which over time have grown in some cases to millions of members. According to the post however, Facebook will be removing regional networks completely in order to "create a simpler model for privacy control where you can set content available to only your friends, friends of your friends, or everyone."

In essence, in short order Facebook will allow users to control which users see what content is created or uploaded. Facebook will also be fulfilling a request to make privacy settings simpler by combining some options.
