New Issue Now Available – Website Magazine September 2010

The goal of advertising is to persuade an audience to buy products, to believe more deeply in brands and encourage interaction. Web workers have bought in, and in a big way. According to AdGooRoo’s Q2 2010 Search Engine Advertising Report, a healthy increase was seen in first-page advertising activity on Google, Yahoo! and Bing, and in ad coverage — the average number of ads shown per search query. Clearly, to thrive in this hyper-competitive and accelerated advertising environment, you need a plan.

When you get right down to it, no one really cares about what the advertising spend is going to be in 2015. Web professionals care about what’s happening now and what techniques, trends and services can make a positive impact immediately to their business — not the entire industry. With a strategic plan you are able to make your own forecast, set your own agenda and plan for your own success. In the September 2010 issue of Website Magazine, Senior Editor Mike Phillips has provided a 30-day plan which sets before you a checklist of tasks and techniques to accelerate advertising and profits.

In addition to the cover story, this issue contains a variety of important content addressing topics such as mobile development, the real-time Web and a great deal in between. Returning contributor Michelle Wicmandy offers up some practical advice on jumpstarting e-mail campaigns, Geno Prussakov shares his expertise on choosing affiliate programs, Joseph Kerschbaum addresses the differences in search and content conversions and Rafi Mohammed sheds light on value-based pricing.

These contributors and others are joined by our team of regular columnists including Tim Ash with Conversion Cache, discussing the benefits of outsourcing landing page optimization, and Josh Ewin in SEO Corner, speaking with Rand Fishkin on offsite optimization. We’ve also turned the tables on Heather Lutze, author of the Findability Makeover column.

I was happy to see your article about online video editors, but I wanted to submit some feedback having thoroughly tested most of these over the last 2 days.

From my research, it seems like Adobe Premiere Express isn't currently available online. It used to be offered on photo bucket, YouTube & MTV.com but they have all done away with the "remix" method of editing.

Jaycut seems to be making some changes. Just earlier in the day yesterday they had a variety of music loops & sound samples available. And just over the course of a few hours those disappeared. Note also that Jaycut doesn't seem to accept MP4 format video.

There's a similar issue with Kaltura's advanced editor. When attempting to upload MP4 format, the editor seems to get stuck or freezes. It's also very slow, so it makes editing cumbersome.

The other 2 are worth looking at, though Pixorial seems to be extremely simple in its offering. Had hoped to find slightly better options...
