Android Advertising is Booming

A new report from Millennial Media, (August 2010 Mobile Mix), shows that Android devices are seeing a gold rush in advertising requests. The data is based on an evaluation of Millennial's ad serving network which reaches 63 million mobile Web users in America - good for about 81 percent of the population.

Since the beginning of the year, Android ad requests have seen a whopping 996 percent increase. That's good for a 26 percent share Millennial's smartphone OS impressions on their network. Apple still leads the way, with a 29 percent share.

Android is still playing catch-up with Apple iOS, but the gap is closing ... and quickly. Android-enabled devices are multiplying and where there are eyes (and clicking fingers) ad dollars tend to follow.
