Ecommerce platform and service provider Elastic Path is
migrating to the cloud, announcing today that a version of its platform is now running
on the Google App Engine.
Elastic-Path’s Java-based platform has been powering a few
of Google’s online storefronts and commerce managers for Google Earth Pro and Sketchup
Pro for several years through a colocation environment (Apache and Tomcat with a MySQL database) but it now runs
on Google’s own App Engine.
"Elastic Path is a true enterprise class application
powering many online stores globally," said a Google spokesperson.
"Having such a robust ecommerce application running on App Engine shows
the flexibility, scalability, and speed of App Engine. App Engine is a game
changer because it allows companies to focus on application development without
all of the traditional infrastructure concerns."
