Facebook is not a big secret, everyone tends to be on it nowadays— businesses, groups, friends, family— even my 83 year-old grandpa. But the site has now become so big that it is receiving more than 1 trillion page views a month.
According to a DoubleClick survey, Facebook received around 870 million unique visitors in June and 860 million in July. Each visitor averaged 40 page views per visit and 1,160 page views in the month of July. That is a whole lot of free advertising for businesses that take advantage of Facebook’s extremely large audience.
The vastness of Facebook and other social media site’s audiences has led CrowdControlHQ, a provider of social media brand protection software, to urge businesses of the importance of having a strong social media presence— over many different platforms.
“These figures should illustrate how essential it is for brands to market themselves to this ever-growing social audience,” says James Leavesley, co-founder of CrowdControlHQ . “As networks such as Google+ appear and draw a larger audience towards them, it is imperative for brands to command a strong social standing across multiple social networks. This ensures a brand is commanding high visibility and has the opportunity to reach a wide-ranging audience.”
While businesses can’t have a profile on Google+ yet, they most certainly can (and should) have a page on Facebook, a Twitter account and a group in LinkedIn.
