Chatterfly, a digital loyalty space, has announced a new version of its digital loyalty app, as well as an exclusive partnership with the San Mateo area’s Chamber of Commerce, which will create a neighborhood rewards program for its 1,000 members.
The new version of the app (1.5) includes new features and functionality to help power the partnership between Chatterfly and the San Mateo Chamber of Commerce — the first partnership in the many that are planned by Chatterfly in order to move toward taking its service nationally.
The Chatterfly smartphone app allows shoppers to earn points and discounts for supporting local businesses.
The San Mateo Chamber of Commerce will endorse and support Chatterfly’s neighborhood loyalty program, which entices shoppers to visit local businesses by providing points that will earn them discounts and freebies. The program is also helpful to local businesses because it will increase the number of visits from current customers as well as draw in new customers.
"Local businesses must always contend with large retailers, department stores and food chains that have nearly an unlimited amount of marketing and advertising resources to drive customers through the door," says Linda Asbury, president and CEO of San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce. "By partnering with Chatterfly, we have greatly leveled the playing field by giving our members a novel approach for rewarding patron loyalty, growing customer base, and keeping local dollars spent within the community."
Chatterfly claims that the company is like frequent flyer miles, but for local businesses. After downloading the Chatterfly app, customers can earn points and rewards for visiting their favorite local businesses, as well as sharing their experiences on Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Google+.
New features for the Chatterfly app include a QR code scanner, instant alerts that tell users when rewards are nearby and enhancements to the interface that improves the user experience. The app is available for Android and iOS.
