While the concept of minimalism in Web design is taking a relatively long road to the mainstream, there’s no question that some of history’s greatest minds would have been outspoken advocates. Many, in fact, already were centuries before the Web was born.

Leonardo da Vinci: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”

Albert Einstein: “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.”

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: “The supreme excellence is simplicity.”

There are dozens more, but the simple fact is that the minimalist principles of Web design are neither new nor fleeting. These powerful designs can lay the foundation for enormously successful Web properties, so we’ve selected 10 minimalist WordPress themes to provide inspiration.

Classica

Perfect for artists that want to showcase their portfolios. Not fond of minimalism? Then Classica is the perfect blank canvas just waiting to be customized.

Core

Another minimalist photography, portfolio, personal website template built with the latest WordPress features.

Dreamy Clean

Comes with extensive and fast support, 12 color skins and unlimited skin variations, 10 custom page templates, 8 different sliders, 30+ Web fonts support and much more.

Evolution

A fully responsive design that will adapt to various screen sizes.

Feather

A simple, subdued design that is still stylistic.

Gridlocked

A grid-based, post-format supporting, layout-shuffling, minimalistic theme for creatives. It is both a classic portfolio for showcasing your work and a modern tumblr-style blogging system.

Minimatica

A stylish and modern minimalist theme with a beautiful image gallery slider and an optional blog view. With support for post formats, audio and video playback, ideal for showcasing photography portfolios or podcasting but also great for everyday blogging.

Nova

A sharp, simplistic design that makes for an intuitive user experience. Nova’s biggest strength is its homepage, which allows you to organize your content into two areas.

Sundance

Despite its minimalist design, Sundance was crafted with clean, elegant typography and close attention to detail. The home page offers a featured video carousel. It supports the video post format, widgets, custom background, custom header, custom menus and a custom link feature for your social media pages.

Sky

Loads all of your content seamlessly using ajax, meaning that no matter how many pages you have in the slider, your initial page-load speed will be lightning fast.

Those are great looking website design that I used myself for some of my websites. Thanks for posting it and having a thumbs up for these themes.

In a world where everything is becoming loud, overwhelming and downright tacky, these themes are a breath of fresh air.  I believe more and more consumers (especially those over 35) will gravitate to simpler online experiences in the near future.
