Pinterest Referral Traffic Continues Growth

Social sharing platform Shareaholic has been tracking social phenomenon Pinterest, the pinboard-based portal that has captured the attention of the Web of late.

In January of this year, Shareaholic noticed that Pinterest was sending more referral traffic than Google+, LinkedIn, and YouTube combined and in February indicated that the site had beat out Twitter for referral traffic.

Shareaholic's most recent report reveals that, hold on to your virtual hat, Pinterest referral traffic continued to show growth in June (to the amazement of the naysayers - myself included) beating out Stumbleupon and even Bing's organic traffic.

As it stands today, Pinterest is inching ever closer to Facebook as a source of referral traffic. Can the growth of Pinterest continue? Share your opinon by commenting below.

I can totally believe this.  I first tried Pinterest about 8 months ago with just a personal pinboard to share some photos and things, wondering what the site was actually like.  To my amazement, within 3 days of pinning some things to varied boards, I had almost 300 followers!  Wondering what would happen if I used the board to pin some pics of our products and services at our auto body and custom shop, I was pleasantly surprised to find the same thing happen.  Although, slightly harder to get your point across as far as advertising goes, Pinterest is certainly a great way to reach massive amounts of people in a short period of time making it a great way to increase your branding opportunities.  I'd love to hear from some people that have tried using Pinterest for this purpose to see what kinds of ideas are going on.  Let's hear em'!!!

Great article.  I am in agreement with everything said here.  I tried Pinterest for the first time about 8 months ago pinning some pics to various boards just to see what kind of activity was going on.  To my amazement, after about 3 days, I had over 300 followers.  I decided to try creating some boards for our business and posted some pics of our products and services and found the same thing to be true again.  Although slightly difficult to get your point across advertising wise, Pinterest appears to be a great way to get the word out to a huge number of people in a very short amount of time.  I'd love to hear from some readers about their experiences with Pinterest from a business standpoint and see what kinds of ideas people are using for Pinterest.

I had signed up for Pinterest a couple of months ago but never used it. I only placed two or three photos and have 80 Followers, Wow! This is great information, staying on the pulse of market changes. Great Stuff! It is just a matter of getting a strategy that is consistent in results with Pinterest.
