In an attempt to extend the
ecosystem based around its cloud computing and storage products, Google has
launched a brand new Cloud Partner Program to provide its customers with a number
of fresh ways to utilize its increasingly improving cloud services.
These new partnerships give Google
the opportunity to offer higher levels of service and support than it would
probably be capable of on its own by teaming up with both service and
technology partners. The former will provide customers with knowledge resources,
so that they can jump right into the cloud, while tech partners will offer the
actual software used to connect a customer’s existing tools (or new tools) with
Google Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, or SQL-based BigQuery database engine.
Among Google’s current lineup of
partners are Agosto, Cynergy, Digitaria, and Wipro Technologies on the service
side, and Jaspersoft, OrangeScape, MapR Technologies, and StorSimple on the
tech side. Altogether, it features 28 service partners and 21 technology
partners, with a special focus on big data-driven companies.
This move will help make the Google
cloud platform far more accessible and practical for many users, and is a major
push for the brand as it sets itself up to challenge other major names,
particularly Amazon, for supremacy in the cloud.
