Article Directories for SEO? Um... No

One of these days, you’re going to wake up to news that Google’s Matt Cutts has suggested an actual strategy on how to increase your inbound links – today is not that day.

Article directories are the latest casualty in the war on poor link building techniques. Cutts's latest Webmaster Help video takes the widely used tactic head on, suggesting that the tactic is no longer viable as a means to build a backlink profile.

The use of article marketing (if you’re unsure of the difference between that and content marketing join the club) has long been looked down upon by the savviest SEOs, who tend to opt for more formal relationship building and media relations approaches.

This isn't really new knowledge, many of us were aware of this as being poor SEO practice for some time.

It was already dead when Panda launched. Now he advised not to use article and web directories for link building.
