If you've heard it once, you've heard it one thousand times - mobile is the future of commerce.
In fact, Google, Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter have all begun to introduce ways for mobile consumers to purchase through their networks directly over the past few years. Mobile ubiquity is coming and merchants that advertise will undoubtedly take advantage of these offerings.
It's the beginning of a major shift toward greater sophistication in relation to mobile merchandising and retailers would be wise to start considering the benefits and challenges of such an initiative immediately.
Retailers and merchants do, of course, have the option to "go on their own" so to speak, and are actively seeking solutions that will help them better sell their inventory and increase revenues outside of their own storefronts.
One of those emerging solutions has been Two Tap, a mobile commerce gateway whose API is currently being used by upward of 850 retailers and 1,000 publishers. That's impressive in such a highly competitive vertical.
The Two Tap solution essentially makes it possible for merchants to sell directly through third-party applications, shopping malls, social networks and various discovery platforms. Essentially, it's the future of digital merchandising for many Internet retailers.
Since the launch of its Product Availability API in Nov. 2014, Two Tap has completed as many transactions in the first six months of 2015 as it did in all of 2014. The company is growing fast and for good reason.
One of the strongest capabilities of the company's API is the real-time product availability information, which checks on the availability of products before starting an order.
Another noteworthy feature of the solution is the company's proprietary "pass-through" model, which allows retailers to process their own payments (and retain the sales data) while shoppers have the same consumer experience as if they were purchasing directly from the merchant.
Many major retailers including Steve Madden and Revolve have chosen Two Tap to extend their merchandising capabilities across all devices, including mobile, to reach more consumers.
CJ Affiliate by Conversant (formerly Commission Junction), a leading affiliate marketing network, recently selected Two Tap as its exclusive technology supplier to power checkout experiences across its network of publishers and retailers.
"As a leading affiliate network in the performance marketing space, finding a solution embraced by both publishers and advertisers was a difficult task," said Deirdre Peters, Product Owner, Partnership Development and New Technology at CJ Affiliate.
"We evaluated all options, and no other platform offers the scale, universality, control and reliability of Two Tap. Its pass-through model and real-time product availability features alone, which we could find nowhere else, made it an easy decision."
