Despite plenty of warnings about its peak pricing on New Year's Eve, Uber received a lot of backlash on social media when riders realized (typically the next day) they paid as much as 10 times the regular fare to get home safely.
Nearly a week later, Uber is soaring above the fray by partnering with Maverick Helicopters for CES 2016 in Las Vegas Jan. 6-9. The exclusive partnership allows Uber users to book Vegas Nights flights
over the Strip with Maverick Helicopters during the three-day tech event.
“Uber is thrilled to be in Nevada in time to seamlessly move conference attendees, visitors and residents throughout Las Vegas during CES,” said Jason Raddison, General Manager for Uber Nevada. “Our partnership with Maverick Helicopters provides riders with another great way to move safely, reliably and affordably throughout the city, while enjoying one of the most beautiful views the Strip has to offer.”
While there is irony in that conference attendees will in some cases pay less for a helicopter ride than a short car ride on New Year's Eve, the Uber-Maverick partnership presents a unique, modern offer for a week that is sure to be full of the same.
To book, users must open the Uber application and slide over to the “CHOPPER” option to schedule a flight. Once confirmed, an Uber vehicle will pick guests up from their location and take them to the Maverick Helicopters’ Las Vegas terminal.
“Maverick Helicopters is proud to be at the forefront of the UberCHOPPER services in Las Vegas,” said Bryan Kroten, Vice President of Marketing at Maverick Helicopters. “We look forward to witnessing the success of this unique offer and the possibility of a long-term partnership with the world’s most popular ride sharing tech service.”
