If you’re interested in doing something good for the environment as you browse the Web, it is time to stop searching on Google and Bing and start searching on Ecosia.
Ecosia.org is a German-based search engine that donates its surplus advertising income to a tree planting program. Since its launch in 2009, Ecosia has planted more than 3 million trees, with the company noting that it is adding a new tree every 12 seconds. What’s more, Ecosia notes that its mission is to plant 1 billion trees by 2020.
It is important to note that the search engine also seems to be pretty transparent, as it publishes its donation receipts and business reports directly on its website on a monthly basis. Those that are interested in leveraging Ecosia can make it their default search engine by adding the Ecosia extension to their Chrome browser.
