What happens when consumers find that product content presented by 'Net retailers is insufficient? That's right - they leave!
A new report out from product content management platform Salsify, in fact, found that ninety-four percent of prospective buyers would abandon an e-commerce site (or give up altogether) if product content is deficient or were unable to find the information they need.
So what ultimately is that consumers want? According to Salsify's research, it seems to be images and reviews. Sixty-six percent of survey respondents indicated they require at least three product images and 82 percent want to see a minimum of three product reviews when considering a purchase.
"Consumers are naturally very price-conscious," said Jason Purcell, co-founder and CEO at Salsify. "But when making purchasing decisions, the research supported what we already believed to be true - strong product content is a critical factor to "buy". This validates our goal to help brands deliver accurate, complete content in order to build out a unique experience for consumers on every channel, and ultimately, increase their chance at standing out among the noise that is the commerce landscape."
