DoNanza’s first-quarter freelance quarterly report reveals some interesting facts about the leading e-commerce platforms designed for small and medium-sized retailers. As measured by new e-commerce freelance developer projects, Magento held a commanding lead over its competition with 43 percent of the share. But looking at growth in terms of the number of projects compared to the previous quarter, Volusion was far and away the leader with 70-percent growth. Finally, in terms of freelance revenues offered, X-cart consistently came in with the highest average project budget. Overall, there was a 27-percent increase in freelance e-commerce developer projects since the last quarter of 2010.
