Even if you are not using it yet,
you have almost certainly heard
of Pinterest by now. Its recent
popularity has been welldocumented,
and Hitwise recently
reported that it has
cracked the world’s top 30
websites based on total pageviews. Further new data from Shareaholic reveals that the
photo-based social network actually drives more referral traffic than Twitter and now
trails only StumbleUpon and Facebook in that area. Of course, Pinterest does have
some issues it has to overcome before it can really take off, namely the huge demographic
disparity on the site. According to yet another study from DoubleClick, 82
percent of Pinterest’s user base is female. Good information to have, however, for
savvy Web marketers.
