Even if you are not using it yet, you have almost certainly heard of Pinterest by now. Its recent popularity has been welldocumented, and Hitwise recently reported that it has cracked the world’s top 30 websites based on total pageviews. Further new data from Shareaholic reveals that the photo-based social network actually drives more referral traffic than Twitter and now trails only StumbleUpon and Facebook in that area. Of course, Pinterest does have some issues it has to overcome before it can really take off, namely the huge demographic disparity on the site. According to yet another study from DoubleClick, 82 percent of Pinterest’s user base is female. Good information to have, however, for savvy Web marketers.
