Small Business Owners Rank their Most Effective Marketing Strategies

What is the most effective online marketing strategy for your small business? If “company website” was not your immediate answer, then we’re not doing our jobs here at Website Magazine. But if it was your answer, you are in agreement with 86 percent of the small business owners recently polled in the Small Business Search Marketing Survey by American Express. Social media was the second most popular answer with 44 percent — putting it ahead of email (35 percent), SEO (28 percent) and paid search (21 percent). Obviously, each tactic has its own place in the most successful marketing plans; and like everything else in business, how one uses them depends on the resources available.

Could you please clarify how a business markets their "company website" when a visitor is already on the site? How does that aspect, marketing to a customer already in you store, help drive visitors to your website? Great stats though.
