Maybe Apple shouldn’t bother making
that rumored seven-inch iPad 3 to compete
with the Kindle Fire, because a report
by NPD In-Stat claims that larger
tablet screen sizes lead to longer engagement
from users than their smaller
counterparts. The study found that
most tablet owners have screen sizes
between nine and 11 inches and “optimized
for sophisticated uses that require
a lot of interaction.” NPD In-Stat
concluded that the top uses for tablets
are productivity-based activities such
as Web browsing, email and applications.
Smaller-screen devices of less
than five inches, like smartphones, are
the preferred tools for entertainmentbased
endeavors such as listening to
music or watching videos.
