Editing and proofreading service Scribendi has launched a rather interesting plugin for Wordpress bloggers that will be welcome by busy writers as it allows blog posts and pages to be edited by Scribendi's team of professional editors - on the fly.

Unlike other proofreading plugins such as After The Deadline (55,000 downloads) which uses artificial intelligence to check spelling, style and grammer, the Scribendi.com plugin provides bloggers with a quote for the editing and proofreading services, places the translation "order", and picks up the completed project, showing it - with suggested corrections of course - in the post or page's revision history.

“We're thrilled to be able to launch this plugin, as we've always wanted to be able to reach out to bloggers and provide a fast, easy way for them to get their blog posts revised,” said Chandra Clarke, President of Scribendi.com. “The plugin, and the dedicated blog editing and proofreading service, provide a way to do that.”

Are there any other proofreading plugins for Wordpress?
Let Website Magazine readers know by commenting below. Perhaps it is necessary to add another letter to the WordPress Plugins from A to Z post?

Reputation rating service Web of Trust (WOT) has partnered with Russia's largest Internet company in Mail.ru, providing users of the free email service with a way to identify dangerous messages and avoid clicking on URLs that might lead to "compromised websites or malware downloads."

WOT’s website reputation ratings come from real-time information shared by over 23 million people worldwide who have installed the WOT add-on (free) into their browser. Web users rate websites based on their actual experiences and interactions with a site.

If a user follows a risky link, an explanation of why it does not satisfy WOT’s rating criteria will appear so they can make a decision whether to continue, go back or learn more. Mail.ru will not block any links from its users.

“We know that for a majority of Mail.ru users, email is the main tool for communication with friends, colleagues, clients and acquaintances. Of course, we want to make mail.ru as safe as possible. Our cooperation with WOT is the next step in creating the safest email system which warns users about untrustworthy and malicious sites," said Anna Artamonova, Vice President for Strategic Projects at Mail.ru Group."

Thirty-three million sites have been rated for trustworthiness, vendor reliability, privacy and child safety by WOT. A variety of international social networks including Facebook and major portals cooperate with WOT currently, and Mail.ru is WOT’s first Russian partner.

If you are a local store looking to capitalize on the social media trend, and more specifically through Facebook, you might want to take a look at RetailConnect - launched last month by local shopping platform Wishpond.

The solution enables merchants to import their product data from point of sale systems (including prices, locations and product images), e-commerce sites or storefronts on eBay, Shopify and Google Merchant center and turn them into full fledged Facebook stores. Screenshots were a little hard to come by but we'll update this post as they become available.

Perhaps most interesting about RetailConnect is that it automatically refreshes merchant stores, monitoring inventory data in real time from the actual store and updating it on the Facebook page of the merchant - making it one of the few vendors to connect in such a way. The solution can even help merchants post promotions and other notifications on the walls of their fans. And all while gaining a few insights along the way. Analytics to dig into include data on location, age, gender, and even the number of users who action on a promotion.

According to a post on the Wishpond blog from July 2011, Wishpond RetailConnect is free to retailers with fewer than five bricks-and-mortar stores that have 100 or fewer items in their inventory. Paid plans start at $30 per month and go up to $300 per month for larger retailers with 25,000 or more products.
