Afternic Premium Domains Now Listed on Namecheap

Need a new domain name? Well, maybe now would be a good time to check out Namecheap because Afternic, an aftermarket for premium domain names, has just added Namecheap to its Premium Reseller Network.

Namecheap, a leader among domain name registrars, Web hosts and SSL certificate providers, will now include Afternic’s premium domain listings in its system, which means that its customers have access to millions of very valuable domains in addition to its current offerings.

Afternic domain results are already displaying with the rest of the domains listed in Namecheap search results with special tags that help users identify them.

The Afternic Premium Reseller Network leverages Instant Transfer technology to give buyers instant access to the domains they purchase, a feature that does away with the lengthy escrow processes of legacy domain marketplaces. This means that Namecheap customers can now purchase a premium domain name with all the ease of buying a domain with primary registration.

NameCheap Wins Big with Facebook Promotion

If you’re struggling with Facebook promotions, you might want to take some social media marketing cues from NameCheap.

The domain name registrar recently ran a promotion on Facebook that generated over 5,000 new fans to unlock a $1.99 coupon code for a new domain name. NameCheap’s Current Deals tab was launched in late June and generated upwards of 500 new likes each day, reaching 5000 fans July 7th and activating the deal

"We thought we'd leverage Facebook in a unique and compelling way," Richard Kirkendall, CEO of Namecheap said. "As a result of this promotion, we were able to bring our community together -- there are so many new discussions with members helping each other -- while also giving back to the community in the form of a unique coupon code to all Fans of our page for a highly discounted domain package."

Domains purchased with $1.99 coupon code include free WhoisGuard, Namecheap's domain name privacy option, and a free Comodo PositiveSSL certificate.

While NameCheap should get a a great big virtual pat on the back for acquiring 5,000 fans in such a short period of time, should all those new fans use the code the domain name registrar will certainly be in for a short term loss as the total value of this opportunity retails for more than $53. Many of those new domains of course will be renewed and additional services purchased, but at least to me it clearly seems like more of a long-term investment in social media.

Domain name registration provider NameCheap is launching another of its popular trivia contests.

What's unique about the contest is that it's held on Twitter - yes, Twitter. If participants sign up for Twitter, follow @NameCheap, and set up their NameCheap account, they can win domain names automatically by answering Twitter trivia.

NameCheap will ask a question every hour on the hour from March 10 to March 24. The first participant to answer each question correctly as well as two at random will be able to register domains for free. The two players who answer the most questions correctly as well as one lucky player at random will win Dell Inspiron Minis worth $500.

NameCheap did a similar promotion over the Christmas holiday, which generated a good amount of attention.

NameCheap Offers Free Comodo PositiveSSL

Domain name registration and web hosting provider Namecheap is offering a free Comodo PositiveSSL certificate with any purchase.

The free SSL comes with IDAuthority, a real-time identity assurance service developed by Comodo that enables website identities to be verified against registry and public data.

NameCheap's CEO Rick Kirkendall is happy to offer the PositiveSSL to all customers.
