Social is an important aspect of a successful e-commerce store. It not only helps connect merchants to their customers, but also helps customers spread the word about their favorite products.

This is why e-commerce solutions provider PrestaShop has joined forces with AddShoppers, a social sharing and analytics platform designed specifically for e-commerce merchants. The new partnership provides free, retailer-focused, social-sharing buttons to PrestaShop clients. These features can help increase product sharing amongst consumers, while also providing merchants with detailed ROI metrics that can be analyzed to determine how social networks are driving revenue.

“Our retailers have been extremely pleased with their results from our social commerce platform," said Jon West, AddShoppers' Chief Executive Office. "There’s a lot of value in being able to easily see which social channels – whether it’s Pinterest, Twitter or Facebook – are actually driving sales. We’re excited to bring this new functionality to the PrestaShop community.”

It's also important to note that AddShoppers may be able to reduce shopping cart abandonment. Merchants can use the platform to create social rewards programs, which can then be set up to provide coupons to loyal consumers. In return, these consumers will not have to abandon their carts in search for a promo code.

The AddShoppers platform is now included as a native feature in PrestaShop v1.5. However, merchants who are currently using older versions of PrestaShop can use the traditional copy and paste installation method. But, in order to take advantage of the AddShoppers social platform within PrestaShop, merchants must first create a free AddShoppers account.

"AddShoppers is changing the way people buy and sell goods and services online,” said Matt Serrlata, Chief Operating Officer at PrestaShop. “With their amazing new "Want" and "Own" buttons, the world's most popular social networks now act as extensions of your online store."

Barely two weeks after
3dcart announced Facebook Connect integration with its e-commerce software, the company has announced an integration with e-commerce social sharing application
provider AddShoppers.

3dcart customers can now include AddShoppers social
sharing buttons on their retail sites to help foster customer engagement and reduce cart abandonment. The integration also opens 3dcart users to
AddShoppers' social analytics platform that tracks when a customer
shares a product, how many of their friends/followers click the link and how
many of those people end up making a purchase.

Hundreds of retailers are currently using the AddShoppers
solution, which was the first to release Facebook Open
Graph-enabled “Want” and “Own” buttons. Because of the application’s
scalability, it can be utilized by stores of all sizes and it can be set up in
a matter of minutes.

One of the reasons Internet retailers have been hesitant to invest more heavily in social media is that it has been difficult if not impossible to determine the actual return on investment from participation. Merchants essentially have no idea how social "shares" equate to the dollars they spend and earn.

That, of course, hasn’t stopped merchants from loading up their Web properties with social media icons, taking a “something is better than nothing” approach. But if a solution came along that supported attributed product shares to revenue, merchants would use it, right? I believe they would.

Social commerce analytics promises to be a white-hot market in the very near future. One of the trailblazers in the field is AddShoppers. The service enables Internet retailers to measure their total social reach by showing what individual products are receiving the most views, shares, clicks and sales revenue. The platform also provides the ability to identify influencers - those that share content most often and those that have the most clout.

"Our goal is to simply give retailers valuable and insightful social commerce data for free," says AddShoppers founder Jon West. "Everything is built from the ground up with e-commerce in mind -- granular data on all the right levels. With us the value of a Facebook share or a tweet is no longer ambiguous and that's just the beginning."

AddShoppers is currently in private beta but early/preview invitations can be requested.
