The MicroCloud Arrives

Hosting provider Codero just announced the release of a new private cloud product dubbed MicroCloud which will enable its customers to manage their virtualization platform directly.

MicroCloud is available in various hardware configurations and offers a choice of preloaded hypervisors currently in VMWare ESXi or Citrix XexServer and will expand the product line to include more hypervisors and orchestration stacks in the next six months.

MicroCloud pricing ranges from $359-$499 depending on the processer type selected. “MicroCloud offers customers the flexibility of cloud computing in private, with 100 percent dedicated hardware. No matter how many virtual machines a customer launches on their infrastructure, the MicroCloud will always be at a set monthly price,” said Chandler Vaughn, SVP of Product for Codero Hosting.

“Our goal at Codero is to enable customers to leverage the best of both virtualized and dedicated servers so that they can place their workloads on preferred platforms, all with the reliability and exceptional service Codero is known for.”

Holiday Hosting Discounts From Codero

For many merchants, the influx of online shoppers that e-commerce sites see during the holiday season brings with it a need for more bandwidth. That is why hosting service Codero is offering special hosting discounts just in time for the inevitable increase in customer demands.

Their discounts are based on some of the latest processor technology, namely the Second Generation Core i7 and Core i5, which are both bolstered with Intel Turbo Boost Technology to provide increased performance on demand.

Codero's servers also come with 12 TB of bandwidth in order to avoid having to charge overage fees to small businesses and e-tailers. Those familiar with the pitfalls of hosting a smaller e-tail site can tell you that without enough supporting bandwidth, they often face these charges when they are hit with increased traffic.

In addition to the discount, Codero has also enhanced their website to make it more e-commerce-friendly through updated navigation and purchasing designs.

Codero Makes Upgrades to Online Portal

Dedicated, managed and cloud hosting provider Codero recently introduced some enhancements to its online portal including a new and improved dashboard. The Codero Server Portal v2 was designed to be a one-stop shop for customers to manage their hosting accounts and give them exclusive access to information related to all products and services.

The tool is still receiving positive feedback from customers six months after its initial release, and Codero says it continues to refine it to improve it further. Below are highlights of some of the major changes just released:

- Improved Dashboard. The new dashboard redesign increases overall usability, design and navigation. It makes it easier to find messages, tickets, invoices and services to manage Codero accounts from a single web page. Visibility to bandwidth usage is even more immediate and a Twitter feed has been included.

- New SMS Service Notifications. Customers can sign up with the new SMS service to receive service notifications in the event of an emergency. There are now three methods to receive emergency alerts: SMS, email or instant messenger. Customers can also follow @CODERONOC for service-related Codero messages.

- Revamped Payment Method. Managing payment options has been streamlined for simplicity with more functionality. The functionality to edit existing payment methods and delete outdated payment information is now available.

- DNS Management Improvements. The entire DNS Management section was rewritten to provide bulk modifications of DNS records through the online portal. We have also extended the functionality to provide support for long data records, such as Domain Keys, and IPv6 in preparation for the IPv6 roll out at Codero.

In the coming months, Codero says it will have new functionality on the service page. The enhancement will give customers the ability to see available upgrades and downgrades to their existing packages and schedule those changes, during a maintenance window of their choice, directly from Server Portal v2.

Codero Offering Discounted Servers and Free Bandwith

Codero is offering benefits for small businesses that include lower pricing on the company’s Dedicated Hosting Server Deals line-up, more bandwidth and an exclusive group of high-performance servers for up to 50 percent off.

The dedicated server deals start at $70 a month while inventory lasts, and include three servers under $100 per month. Codero is also offering 12TB of bandwidth free on all servers for a limited time, including the deals line-up.

The 50-percent special began in May and was extended into June based on customer response. Businesses have the flexibility to choose their price-break on four high-performance servers receiving up to 50 percent off with a pre-payment for 12 months.

Also available is a 40-percent off discount when you pre-pay for six months; a 35-percent off discount for pre-payment of three months, and a 25-percent off discount when pre-paying for one month in advance.

These discounts are effective for the life of the server and give businesses the chance to have an Intel Xeon Quad Core 2.53 GHz server for as low as $122.50 a month for life.

Codero Offers Cloud Hosting by the Hour

An on-demand cloud hosting service from Codero is now available in monthly or hourly billing plans, and prices are below market price for those who sign up during the initial beta period. Set-up for both plans is at no charge and no contracts are required.

The hourly cloud computing plan allows consumers to turn on additional resources when their business demands it, and turn them off when their business does not, paying per hour of resource utilization instead of being forced into a monthly commitment. Cloud is designed to be elastic to accommodate traffic spikes and other variable load applications.

The Codero Cloud is especially well-suited for sites that expect to grow rapidly and sites with cyclical traffic.
