Cubics.com, a social advertising network that is displaying 2 billion ads each month through social applications, announced that it will be supporting the newly released MySpace API.

Just like Facebook, Developers can use Facebook to monetize their Myspace applications by partnering with Cubics. The company hels developers display targeted text ads within an application window by simply inserting a few lines of code. Developers are then paid for every ad displayed within their application.

Cubics advertising is currently displayed within many popular social networks such as Facebook, Bebo and Friendster applications. while the verdict on ROI of advertising through social applications is still out, Cubics is certainly unique in that they are the first (and by the looks of it only) advertising network in the space. The advantage is that by tapping user information of these applications, advertisers are able to target a very previse demographic.

For publishers, Cubics could be a salvation. Operating on a CPM basis, here's what 1,000 ad displays will earn developers.

Banner (468x60): $0.46

Button (125x125): $0.31

Rectange (300x250): $0.69

Skyscraper (120x600): $0.54

There's a slight discrepancy in the ad display numbers they are reporting on their website. The corporate about page indicates they are serving 200 million per week while the home page states the 2 billion figure referenced earlier in this post. That may be of concern to advertisers. Either way, if you're looking to monetize your social applications Cubics could be a good solution.

Cubics was bought by AdKnowledge in December of 2007.
