The Planet Paying More – Hosting Resellers

Hosting provider The Planet improved the commission structure for its partner program; registered referral partners will now receive incentives on an even broader range of contract terms.

In addition to standard monthly recurring payments for contracts of 12 months or longer, The Planet now provides commissions for month-to-month agreements and six-month contracts. The Planet’s Partner Plus Referral Program provides pays out up to 20 percent of deal size.

Fasthosts Adds API for Reseller Services

Reseller web hosting provider Fasthosts Internet released an API which allows resellers to automate new customer signups, create admin tools for end-customers, and process customer orders automatically. Using the API will provide resellers with the ability to have their customers set up hosting and secure domain names directly from their website.

“Fasthosts understands how important an API is to its reseller partners. Having an administrative tool such as this significantly increases the productivity and opportunities for our resellers.” Holford said. “The Fasthosts team is confident that current and potential resellers will be very satisfied with the functionality and new capabilities this interface will offer them. Not only will the API make their reseller business easier to manage, but it will provide our resellers with more options that they can implement into their customer care strategy.”

Fasthosts has already included the API into its resellers’ control panels. The API is accessible using any server side language, and provides full documentation and examples for all API functions. Resellers are also given test scripts as another way to customize the API for their business needs.

New Hostway Reseller Program Launches

Web hosting and services provider Hostway has launched a reseller program. Resellers that sign up for the Hostway Tango offering before June 30, 2009 will have their first annual fee ($200 US if paying by credit card, $400 by check) waived. No information was immediately available on the website about the actual services that the fees included - not typically a very good sign.

Tango resellers can purchase Linux or Microsoft Windows hosting, hosted Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint, sell domain name registrations and a few more interesting add-ons, but again, not much information was present. This would be something to consider if you're one of the 600K HostWay customers and are interested in selling web hosting packages.

"We wanted to give resellers a complete platform that lets them start selling as few or as many products as their customers need and add to their offerings as their customers grow," said John Lee, senior vice president of small business hosting. "With Tango, resellers can offer their customers all the hosting products they need under one roof."
