If you are bummed about your new Klout score, you might want to head over to the other social influence rating site – Kred – for a new way to discover your social influence.

Kred just launched Kred Story, which enables users to understand their influence by displaying a personal and visual stream of their social media history.

"Kred Story is the culmination of many years of research by PeopleBrowsr," says Andrew Grill, CEO, Kred. "It shifts the emphasis from scores and data to people and their content. Kred Story gives everyone access to social data in an intuitive format that enhances their social media experience. It makes influence metrics useful for all of us."

Kred Story's visual streams are generated from a person's social media posts, interactions, links and photos. However, users also have the ability to view social streams from friends, brands or publications. For example, entering a name, such as @CNN, produces an overview of the company’s most influential content that has been shared on Twitter. Viewers can also zoom into the searched stream in order to view insights on interactions and posts. Additionally, users can enter hashtags to create Kred Stories from trending topics.

According to Kred’s Blog, “Kred Story moves the conversation about influence away from numbers and data to bring it back to the best thing about social media: the ability to connect with people who have things in common and shared passions.”

In order to leverage this new social influence tool, users must request an invitation – which is available at www.Kred.com.

You may be less influential today than you were yesterday, at least according to Klout.

The popular online influence rating tool has just rolled out some upgrades to its services, including an improved algorithm that aims to provide users with more accurate Klout Scores.

The new algorithm measures more than 400 signals across seven social networks in order to provide users with a score that represents their real-world influence rather than their social media popularity. According to the Klout Blog, the new score has increased accuracy, measures 12 billion data points on a daily basis and, for the first time, incorporates Wikipedia as a signal.

For example, with the new Klout score, President Barack Obama finally ranks higher than Justing Bieber (what is the world coming to?!). Take a look at how Klout has explained this change:

Klout is also launching a new feature called “moments”, which showcases a user’s most influential social media content in one place. This shows users insights into their interaction patterns, which can help them improve upon their social strategies in the long run. Additionally, the influence ranking platform has also enhanced its site design, which offers a cleaner and more user friendly dashboard. Both of these new updates, moments and the site redesign, will be rolled out to users within the next few weeks, however, all users can obtain their new Klout score today.

“As the fastest growing social media destination of all time, Google+ quickly became a highly requested feature,” says Ash Rust in Klout’s official blog. “With its intuitive handling of privacy and sharing – bridging the public/private divide – it’s captured our attention from the start.”

Klout will measure Google+ users' ability to drive action and influence others. Although getting added to circles won’t increase someone’s Klout score, getting comments and +1’s on posts from influential users will.

Connecting a Google+ account to Klout is currently available on the Klout dashboard, next to the Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn icons.

Klout, a tool that measures social media influence, has announced that the site now provides Klout scores for 100 million people. The site notes that this is important because it shows that 100 million people are sharing their opinions, hopes and dreams on the social web.

The 100 million users of Klout currently are ranked based on their influence within 10 different social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Foursquare. However, Klout expects to expand its influence metrics to more social sites in the future, as well as give its influencers new features to help them better understand their Klout scores.

Although Klout is a valuable tool for people, businesses and other entities that are concerned about how effectively they are using social media, (Klout measures a user’s network influence, their ability to generate actions and discussions and their audience reach) the real question is — how much clout do the 100 million Klout users have? For example my personal Klout score is 14, meaning that just because you sign up for Klout doesn't mean that you are a great social media influencer.
