As a diehard Google Android user nothing upsets me more than today's announcement from Adobe that the Photoshop.com Mobile iPhone application is now available. Sigh. For free (sigh).

Users will be able to edit photos, apply effects and share images, plus users can connect their Photoshop.com accounts to enable photo sharing and data back-up.

“As the digital imaging leader, Adobe is excited to bring Photoshop.com Mobile to iPhone users,” said Doug Mack, vice president and general manager of Consumer and Hosted Solutions at Adobe. “Now, with access to powerful editing and sharing tools, iPhone users are armed with the resources to document all of life’s unexpected moments, make them look their best and then re-live those memories with friends and family.”

The July 2009 Mobile Metrics report (which surveyed 1,000 users of iPhone, iPod touch and Android devices) indicated:

•	Each month, Android and iPhone users download approximately 10 new apps, while iPod touch owners download an average of 18 per month

•	Over half of Android and iPhone users spend more than 30 minutes per day using apps
•	More than 90 percent of Android and iPhone OS users browse and search for apps directly on their mobile device

•	Users who regularly download paid apps spend approximately $9 on an average of five paid downloads per month

•	iPhone represented 60 percent of US smartphone usage in AdMob’s network in July 2009, followed by RIM and Android devices at 13 and 12 percent, respectively

Just a month after launch, AdWhirl announced today that they are serving over 200 million monthly advertisements worldwide on iPhone and iPod Touch applications in the Apple App Store (and five of the top 50 applications in the App store). AdWhirl is essentially a mobile advertising platform which enables developers to serve ads from different mobile ad providers like AdMob, Quattro Wireless, Videoegg, Jumptap, and Mobclix.

"We're very excited about AdWhirl's ad platform and what it means for the mobile advertising industry. AdWhirl will help Stitcher to maximize 3rd party mobile ad revenue by providing us with the ability to choose dynamically between multiple ad campaign offerings," said Noah Shanok, founder and CEO of Stitcher, a free mobile service for listening to on-demand radio.

There are a few advantages to using AdWihrl; optimized CPM's (the service identifies the highest paying ad to display from the various participating networks), the opportunity to create custom ads (used for the cross-promotion of other applications) and guarantees 100% fill rate. Developers can set up "rollover priorities" which switch to the next available ad network (or custom ad) to provide a consistent inventory of advertisements.

Acquisio clients with the iPhone app can keep track of high-level PPC statistics, pause or resume client campaigns on Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing and Microsoft AdCenter. The dashboard is also actionable, so that users can pause underperforming campaigns or adgroups until they get back to the office to get a closer look and take proper action.

"SEM managers are very busy people. They need to be able to take advantage of moments of inactivity, during commute, for example, to increase their productivity. With the iPhone application, account managers can now see how all their accounts performed on the previous day, week, or month. The interface presents engaging line charts to map progress over time of any given metric," said Martin Le Sauteur, president and CEO of Acquisio Inc. "On the iPhone, the interface is sensitive to screen position, and we wanted to take advantage of this unique feature. When the screen is flipped on its side, we provide even more data on the screen."
